Madras HC stays Rs 80 cr GST demand on Hyundai seconded employees pay

NEW DELHI: The Madras HC has stayed a GST demand of about Rs 80 crore on salary paid by Hyundai Motors to seconded employees.

According to official data released by the finance ministry on April 1, gross GST collections in FY24 exceeded Rs 20 lakh crore and came in at Rs 20.18 lakh crore, while on a net basis, it was Rs 18.1 lakh crore. Central GST collections amounted to Rs 8.63 lakh crore as against the revised estimate of Rs 8.11 lakh crore.

In what could be termed as a setback for more than 50 top companies in India, the Delhi High Court on Monday upheld the constitutional validity of various provisions of the anti-profiteering provisions under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework.

SC transfers to itself 27 pleas challenging 28% GST levy on online gaming

The Supreme Court on Friday transferred to itself 27 writ petitions which are pending across nine State High Courts, challenging the levy of 28% Goods and Services Tax (GST) on all forms of online real-money gaming. Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud said rather than different High Courts hearing the same issue and possibly giving different judgments, it would be better to have the Supreme Court hear the case and deliver an authoritative ruling. The Centre had sought the transfer of the petitions from the High Courts to the Supreme Court.
